DIY RAINBOW HAIR CHALKED TIPS

You see hair chalking everywhere! The good thing about it for us preggos is that it gives us the excitement of coloring our hair without harsh chemicals that could be harmful to our pregnancy! Hair chalking was one of the items on my Spring Bucket List and I am so glad I finally tried it! I love the results.

There are tons of tutorials on how to hair chalk... but what make this one special is that I learned a lot of tips from trying this to make it easier for you. Things that other tutorials didn't specify.

Supplies: A spray bottle full of water, straightening iron or curling iron or blow dryer or all three, soft chalk pastels (art store)

My hair type is naturally severe curls... I almost always straighten it and I wash it every other day to keep it from drying out. I have also not dyed my hair since I found out I was preggo.. so my roots are long.

STEP ONE: Pick out sections of your hair you want colored.
TIP: TAKE THIS PROJECT OUTSIDE IT CAN GET MESSY!

STEP TWO: Soak the strand of hair with spray bottle.

STEP THREE: Rub pastel on the wet strand in a downward stroke.
TIP: CHEAP PASTEL CHALK DOES NOT WORK, I had 3 different sets of chalk that I use for pastel chalk drawing and the slightly more expensive set was wonderful. The cheap set from Walmart did not work.
STEP FOUR: Use straightener iron to dry hair.
TIP: Don't pull strand through hair it removes some of the color instead close and reopen the flat iron in sections of strand. I also found that it was better to go ahead and use a curling iron instead of a flat iron if I was wanting curls.
TIP: The chalk left me wanting to brush my hair but believe me... DON'T BRUSH IT!  The chalk will just lighten and disappear!
It also made my hair feel really thick however I really enjoyed it. I think hair chalking works great for when you just want something different for a day or two. Like a game night or party or festival or a fun photo shoot!

I can't wait to show you the photo shoot we took with our hair chalked for the Festival Collection that will be in the shop this weekend!
Have a wonderful Friday! Check back Monday for a week full of fantastic posts I have planed!!

My 7 Everyday Beauty Favorites

I have had the opportunity to spoil myself this holiday season and get some new beauty products. I am so glad I did because these 7 products really make me feel and look a lot better!

Smell Good: CO Bigelow Lemon No 1999
Lucky enough to get a gift card to bath and body... I have been longing for this scent since 2 Christmas's ago and it never happened until now! Just the fresh yet sweet simple scent of lemon.... ughh I spray it on me everyday even if I am not going anywhere!

Bright Whites: Colgate Optic White
My boyfriend convinced me to try a new toothpaste, we usually get aquafresh but this stuff is awesome. My teeth were whiter in one use! Plus I had this warm tingling feeling in my mouth the first time I brushed it was strange but felt surprisingly good!

Soft Smooth Features: Hempz Lotion
My little sister got me this sample size lotion for Christmas and I use it on everything! It is the only lotion I am able to put on my face and it not irritate or cause breakouts. It does wonders for when I dry my face out with my peroxide soap!

Natural Waves: Nume Pearl Curling Wand
I have been looking for a curling wand for sometime now. Yes my hair is insanely curly but I wanted something that would give more life to my hair when I straightened it. This is great because it doesn't use a clamp (no creases), it heats up to 400 degrees which is good for my thick hair, and the curl holds for 2 days! The wand shape allows for a natural curl too which is what I love most about it! It's so great I convinced my two sisters to buy one as well!

Dirty Girl Secret: Biosilk Dry Shampoo
I have used dry shampoo since they started selling it in retail stores. I love it because with my thick coarse hair it's better to not wash it but every 3 to 4 days. So I use this when it gets near the end when my ends look fabulous but my roots are too shiny! It's my life savor!!

Envious Nails: Revlon Nails Color Posh
I am so in love with revlons nail polish lately. The colors are solid and matte! One coat will do ya! They also have some real nice unique colors to choose from for around 3 dollars a bottle! I am loving my new green shade Posh right now!

Glowing Skin: Victoria's Secret Pink Play All Day
This lotion is perfect for my pale legs and arms. It has a super fine shimmer that makes your skin look like its glowing! Plus the scent is killer! This works great when you just want to make yourself feel real good!

What's your favorite beauty product right now?

Thoughts on Thursday: Self love

I don't really want to admit it but I haven't felt so great in my skin lately. I catch myself seeing only ugly when I look in the mirror and I pick apart myself when anyone takes a photo of me. I don't really know where this came from because I have such a good boyfriend and family who tells me just about every day that I am beautiful.

The part that kills me is that I look back at photos where I thought I looked stupid and think wow I looked good back then... it's weird.

Anyway... at least I realize that I have a problem. I have never liked it when someone said I'm ugly... I'm fat... blah blah blah. I have always been proud... and every now and again accepted my flaws.

The wrinkle I am getting on my forehead drives me crazy...  my naturally curly hair is almost untameable and my nose feels out of place. I have a gap between my front teeth that won't go away after 5 years of braces and acne always seems to be a problem. Double chin, darks circles.... ok now I need to stop.

Basically I wanted to post this because I hate seeing myself like this and I need to rise above it. I do love my hazel eyes, perfect eyebrows, and long lashes. My legs look good in about any outfit. I do like it when my hairs curls just right once in a blue moon. So you win some you lose some... and nobody's perfect.

To be absolutely honest... I think it all stems from being made fun of or just a joke about those features from when I was younger. Those kind of things seem to stick with you forever.
