What's in my Diaper Bag?

In the very beginning of pregnancy I spent a little time thinking about diaper bags. I kind of dreaded the thought of carrying a huge bag around because I never hardly carry a purse. I also didn't think that I wanted to spend a lot on a diaper bag.

WHY DO I NEED A BABY BAG ANYWAY?

Well all that changed as my late pregnancy sickness came in and for some reason my purse started becoming heavier. I started having to carry around my makeup for last minute weekly doctor visits I was loading my purse down with bottled lotion for my dry aching feet and water bottles stayed stocked along with vitamins, and all those extra little things you never thought you would need until now.  So my purse started weighing around the 6 pound or more mark. I realized life has changed and a good diaper bag is going to be a life savor with my newborn.

MATERNITY FAIRS

I attended two Maternity fairs in the past 3 months. One which was local and one that was in a bigger city near us. I really got more information and better freebies from the local one... plus there were less people which ended up making it easier to win prizes. They also provided wonderful free classes throughout the day. The only good part about the one in the bigger city was better free food lol. Anyways at the local Maternity fair Merle Norman had a booth set up with Vera Bradley Baby bags and this new print "jazzy blooms" made me swoop in and take pictures with my iphone so I could remember what it looked like.

THE DIAPER BAG

I feel in love with the bag and waited 2 months before actually getting it because of the price $109.00.  I have never spent that much on a purse but I thought that since I am having my first and  since a baby bag is a must I could afford just to buy a nice one that I could enjoy.

PACKING THE BAG FOR LABOR

I have slightly stressed over what to pack. Read blogs and magazines which mostly resulted in information that covered too much. Lists and lists... one blog momma packed 3 bags and I thought that was nuts. I am not one to want to pack a lot but sometimes I do. So I decided to just throw in what I felt I might need in small doses. This is only for baby...

The front of this bag has matching changing pad! How nice and the inside of the bag is a waterproof lining!

WHATS INSIDE

  • 2 NURSING BOTTLES
  • FORMULA (FREEBIE FROM MATERNITY FAIR)
  • NURSING PADS (FREEBIE FROM MATERNITY FAIR)

  • BABY MEDICAL KIT
  • COMB/BRUSH /HEADBANDS

  1. I love that bag! It's so cute! Nice washcloth too! ;) The only thing I would add would be a pacifier. Some hospitals give you one. While I don't condone them, they do come in handy. My daughter gave hers up at 3 months. I got lucky. lol I'm so excited for you! :)

    1. I thought that sweet washcloth was perfect :) it is so soft! I will definitely add a pacifier... I had no idea a newborn would know how to take them. Thanks Casey!!!

  2. Yes, that is a super cute bag!! I think you have a great assortment, but I would add some hard candy or a snack, like crackers. Something easy and small to pack, that doesn't need to be refrigerated. I spent a lot of time making lists and packing/unpacking/repacking my diaper bag, but it's funny, I didn't even unzip it the whole time I was in the hospital! I think my husband finally did to get my daughter's onesie for when we left the hospital. Lots of luck to you!! :)

    2. Oh most definitely! Even though I didn't even peek in my bag once we were in the hospital, I was glad it was there just in case! :)
