Mommy and Me: Strawberry Patch

It's funny how having a child makes you experience things that you may never have experienced or thought about before. You think that a child keeps you from experiencing a lot and granted there are some things I can't just get up and go do but there are a whole lot of things that I never even thought of doing that I can enjoy. That's why I love these mommy and me posts. It's a great way to look back and see the times me and my precious girl have enjoyed together.

My older sister invited me to go strawberry picking at berea college farms and for a moment I almost decided not to. My little girl is 10 months today and she wants to put everything in her mouth so I have to keep a close eye on her. Also I wasn't sure if I would enjoy carrying her and trying to pick berries. Plus I was worried about bugs, thorns and other possible dangerous plants.

To my surprise though Juniper did great and she absolutely loved it. I sat her right in the middle of the patch and she kept herself occupied... standing and crawling around exploring the plants and berries. The other great thing is the farm was pesticide free so she was able to try some of the delicious berries. Unlike store bought berries that look ripe but are hard and sour. These were soft and sweet which Juniper loved munching on. She only has 2 teeth right now so were still trying to get her use to more solid food.

Picking from the strawberry patch was so much fun with my 10 month old. I have never done that before but I am sure I would probably have taken it for granted if I didn't have a cutie patootie to help me out!

Mommy and me: Hiking The Pinnacles of Berea Ky

I haven't hiked the pinnacles since before I was pregnant but I just got a chance last week to head up it with my pup and some friends. It seemed easier than I imagined so I figured I would give it a go again the other day with my Juniper and the help of all 3 of my sisters. What a trip... I forgot to grab the harness I have to carry her in so we all took turns packing her up the mountain the hard trail. I don't know what I would do without my sisters, they are truly a blessing.

I don't think I'll be taking June up it again anytime soon though because it's hard to enjoy the scenery. I mean I didn't really get a chance to take any pictures once we got to the top, only enough time to just enjoy it in real life. Plus it's a little scary having her on the edge of a cliff. She liked it but I think she was ready for it to be over.

Also I haven't been very active besides running around trying to take care of a baby and yoga once a week so I decided to sign up for a mommy and me workout class. That was interesting but after only 20 mins of crunches and lifting a baby as weight my body aches... bad. Then climbing the mountain twice in less than a week and today I can't even sit without wanting to scream in pain.

All in all though it feels good to feel pain and to get the gratitude once you reach the top of the mountain. Junie loved the mommy and me class even though I was pouring in sweat and life is looking better and better every day. I got the best news the other day and I just can't wait till I can share it with you.

Mommy and Me: Let's go fly a kite

Yeah for spring and being able to do things outside with my baby girl! After such a long, harsh winter I was beginning to wonder if I was on the verge of serious depression but the sunshine, green grass and blue skies changed all that. I spent a lot of the week unglued from this computer and it really allowed me to enjoy what's right in front of me. This precious baby girl named Juniper. It seems like she is at the perfect age to be enjoying spring and it wears her out too!

This weekend we enjoy a kite festival which I thought would be the perfect place to take some pics of my little, pretty thing after all it's almost easter. These pictures are completely unedited.... I like to edit pictures with filters and all that good stuff but these just seemed perfect ;)

It's hard to get a picture of this little girl smiling all nicely, she wants to scrunch her face up and grunt. So I guess this is the real deal. I keep debating on whether I should have someone take pictures of her but I keep deciding not to because in reality it doesn't make much sense. After all a photographer will just edit them to death and it won't really be what my baby really is. Not saying anything bad about photographers but if I can do the job or at least edit them myself why pay someone to do it...? This is the same debate I have on tattoos.... hopefully one day I will force myself to change.

Mommy and Me: Sledding

Juniper's first sledding experience! She didn't really get to sled but I pulled her around while she sat on it. I can't believe we have had such a wonderful winter. All this snow is so much better than tons of rain making everything yucky! Makes for pretty pictures too!
