Sketchbook Prompt #10 and Link Up

With spring inspiring us to be outside and the fun of summer on the rise this will be the last sketch prompt you will be seeing for a while! Even I am finding it hard to concentrate on a sketch post while the birds are chirping and the flowers are blooming so I think its time for a break!

No worries though we will be back in action with a new and improved area for artistic expression on the blog. I plan on having ART PROMPTS that will include all sorts of materials and developing little fun creative lessons that you all can take part in here on the blog. So I am very excited! That's what I will be working on this summer while I get use to my baby situation!

So stay tuned and enjoy the spring and summer! I will be focusing on some awesome diy posts this season so enjoy those as well!

Sketch Prompt time!! Only one more till we hit ten! Then we will be taking a break for a week or so and I will be revamping our artistic expression spot!

Go outside and look closely at your surroundings. Fill a blank sketchbook page with one or more sketch studies of what you discover.

Sketchbook Prompt #8 with Link up!

Pull out those sketchbooks friends. I know it is hard with the weather being so nice but consider taking your drawing outside to help inspire you and maybe even catch some rays while sketching.

Only 2 more sketchbook prompts till we hit 10 and I am contemplating on things we could change to make it more interesting so more of you stay involved. If you have any cool suggestions leave a comment below, I would love to hear them!

Sketchbook prompt #8

Open to a fresh sketchbook page and draw out your perfect picnic. What foods do you pack? What do you carry it in? Include as many details as you feel necessary.

My picnic would include chicken salad sandwiches, watermelon, lemonade, potato salad and strawberry shortcakes for dessert! On a rainbow Mexican blanket!

Use a clean sketchbook page and draw out a complete alphabet in your own designed font. Be sure to give your new font a name!

Sketchbook Workshop #5 Link Up

It's Thursday and I am not hesitating jumping right back into another sketchbook prompt. It's been almost a month since the last one so drag out your sketchbooks and let's make this happen!

I definitely need some visual motivation so this prompt is more open for your own interpretation! I will most likely give myself around 20-30 minutes to do this prompt.

Also my free subscription through linky is up... after some thought I decided to go ahead and pay to subscribe for this year so we can continue to link up and show off our posts!

So please be sure to use linky so my money isn't wasted!!

I also opened up all the old sketchbook linkups for those who want to enter them and if some of you remember I told you that after the first 10 linkups those who participate in all 10 get a surprise snail mail! So don't miss that!!!!!!

Also after the first 10 sketch linkups... sketchbooks are going to start to get a bit crazier and were going to start using different materials besides your pencil so be excited!!!

Sketchbook Entry 4

It's Thursday again and that means another sketchbook prompt! You all having been doing some neat things with these challenging prompts I can't wait to see what you come up with for this one!

I will be giving myself 10- 15 mins to finish this one once I have the stain dried. Get creative with your stain... think of everyday objects that can create a stain on your clothes and use those on your paper!

Create a stain on a clean sketchbook page using anything!
Use the stain to create a image with your pencil!

I should have mine posted this afternoon...!

PS. A couple of you have asked if it's too late to participate and guess what? It's never too late! So join in! Those who complete the first ten prompts and submit through linky will get a surprise in their mailbox. Sketchbook Workshop Entry 3

Yeah for Another sketchbook prompt! Remember it's a good idea to time yourself about 20 mins so that you don't get stuck and dwell on it.

Also please link up! Thanks to all of you who have been participating so far! After the first 10 prompts I will see how the prompts are going for everyone and decide if we will continue!

Sketchbook Prompt #3

Divide a clean sketchbook page into sections by drawing 2 diagonal lines, 3 horizontal and 2 vertical lines each touching the edges of the page. Then fill each empty section with a different unique pattern.

Once again I should have my sketchbook prompt up on this post mid day tomorrow!

I always enjoy doing patterns. When I sat down to do this prompt I realize a line doesn't have to be straight. That allowed me to make it a bit more interesting :)

Sketchbook Workshop Entry 2

Yeah! It's time for our second Sketchbook prompt!

Sketchbook Prompt #2

Rest your pencil to a fresh sketchbook page, close your eyes and begin to move your pencil
all over the page for 15 seconds. open your eyes. spend the next 15 mins turning your scribble into
a recognizable image!

I will add a picture of my completed sketch to this post tomorrow morning. Along with my thoughts... please share yours below :)

I felt a lot better about this prompt because I felt like I didn't have to think so much like the first. I actually finished 4 mins early which surprised me. I also felt more confident and when I was done I had the urge to keep sketching. :)

Sketchbook Workshop Entry 1

Yeah! It's time for the first Sketchbook Workshop Entry!

Before we begin I would like you to notice below that you can link up your sketchbook entry to show off when you complete your sketch book entry. This is the first time I am trying this out with an open post so it would be great to see at least one or to of you link up! It would make my day and make me keep the link up... (which actually costs money to have on my blog). Don't forget to grab the button to add to the end of your post so viewers can click back to see others.

Also I didn't give any rules but I wanted to let you know that I am giving myself a time limit to complete this sketch. 15 minutes is what I am allowing myself. After all a sketch is a quick drawing and should not be overly thought about. It should be quick, painless, messy and in some cases strange. So consider using a time limit.

One more tiny point... after reading the prompt just begin, don't think even if you have no idea just draw. The point of the prompt is to get your pen or pencil (or anything) to paper!

So let's begin!

SKETCHBOOK PROMPT 1:

Draw a self portrait without using words, without a mirror and without actually drawing yourself realistically. Use this sketch to describe who you are on the inside, not who we see on the outside.

Here is what I did in 15 mins... I will not lie I had a hard time starting and a hard time wrapping it up but I hope that I will be able to look back from future sketches and see growth.

Introducing The Sketchbook Workshop

I am really excited to introduce something new to the blog where all of you can participate! It's called the sketchbook workshop. Every week I will create a prompt for you to do in your sketchbook. You can choose to link it up and show it off or keep it to yourself. I will be doing it too!

THE PURPOSE:
The purpose of this workshop is to inspire you to think outside the box. To practice thinking and working creatively. It will also be a great reminder to take time out of your busy week to just scribble. Hopefully these prompts will also help to keep you from a Sketchbook Blockage ( when you can't think of what to sketch).

I decided to to this instead of the 365 day self picture project. I found that trying to take a picture of myself everyday kept me from taking pictures of what I love in life. After 6 days I found it kind of pointless so I am replacing it with something I need which is time with my sketchbook. I take enough pictures anyway!

I scribbled these pictures down last night and I plan on gathering a clean sketch book before the first prompt which will be next week!
